The Okanagan Knitting RetreatIn 1999, I collaborated with two friends, Gloria Hanson and Wendy Henderson, to plan and present a retreat for knitters of all levels—from those who are designing their own patterns to knitters who have only recently mastered the art of knitting and purling. This event definitely met a need and proved so successful that the Okanagan Knitting Retreat has been held every year on the weekend following Victoria Day each May. The topics change from year to year and have been wide-ranging, from techniques such as Fair Isle knitting and garment construction to free-form and sculptural knitting as well as colour and design. The purpose remains the same—to enhance skills and knowledge thus building confidence and independence. Workshops for all skill levels are held concurrently. Retreats are held at Sorrento Centre on Shuswap Lake between Salmon Arm and Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada.
This year, the program includes a Yoga and Knitting Retreat at the beginning of the week (May 23 – 25), followed by a choice of three workshops on Friday May 26, and then the 19th Annual Retreat which will begin Friday evening and wrap up at noon on Sunday, May 28, 2017. You will be able to sign up for everything (take the week off work!) or a single Friday workshop and/or one of the five workshops that make up the traditional Weekend Retreat from Friday evening to Sunday noon.
Registration opens Friday March 3, 2017. Download the brochure by clicking on this link: 2017 Okanagan Knitting Retreat brochure
